FRCS will recognize Juneteenth ahead of the holiday, on Friday, June 16th!

On June 18 2021, President Biden signed a proclamation confirming June 19th as the Federal Juneteenth Day of Observance. The Juneteenth Day of Observance commemorates freedom and more specifically the historical day of “June 19, 1865 — nearly nine decades after our Nation’s founding, and more than 2 years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation — enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas, finally received word that they were free from bondage. As those who were formerly enslaved were recognized for the first time as citizens, Black Americans came to commemorate Juneteenth with celebrations across the country, building new lives and a new tradition that we honor today”~ President Biden, A Proclamation on Juneteenth Day of Observance, 2021.

In observance of this holiday, we will have a K-12 optional dress down day on Friday, June 16, 2023. On this day, we invite you to dress down in colors, images and/or messages that reflect the values of Juneteenth.

We recognize that June 12, 2023 - Jun 16, 2023 is spirit week for our elementary school students; therefore, students and families should feel free to choose from the following dress down themes (1) Dress in ES spirit day theme/colors (2) Dress in Juneteenth spirit day theme/colors or (3) Dress in both!

As a reminder, student and staff participation in dress down spirit days is optional.

Please note that Foxborough Regional Charter School is closed on Monday, June 19, 2023 in observance of this Federal holiday
