Foxborough Regional Charter School is offering students ages 10–25 the opportunity to receive a life-saving electrocardiogram (ECG) heart screening on Wednesday, November 13th, during the school day.
Who We Play For, in collaboration with LONGLIVEJJ and the MCSAO, will be on campus to perform the screenings. This initiative is held in honor of JJ Facey, a former MCSAO Soccer MVP, and is part of their mission to prevent sudden cardiac arrest in youth.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of death on school campuses, and many detectable heart conditions can go unnoticed during a standard physical.
The ECG screening is:
-
Non-invasive and painless, taking about 5 minutes
-
Reviewed by a pediatric cardiologist or cardiologist trained in athlete hearts
-
May detect conditions that a standard physical may miss, greatly improving the odds of early detection
The cost of the screening is $20, each participant’s results will be emailed to the family within a week.
