Creating Self Portraits with "Colors of the World"

Kindergarten students in Ms. Solivan's class had a wonderful, engaging experience during an ELA class this week!

First, students listened to the read aloud “The Colors of Us.”  The book celebrates the differences and similarities that connect all people.

They followed up the read aloud with a hands-on activity - creating self portraits.  As you can see, students in the class were so excited to use "Color of the World" crayons!

Crayola created this box of crayons with 24 specially formulated colors representing people of the world. The students were able to choose crayons that come close to their own skin colors.
