While we await the beginning of the Spring Sports season at FRCS, we'd like to take a moment to recognize one of our incredible student athletes who is exceling in the classroom, and on the ice! Camila Chan is the Foxborough Regional Charter School student athlete of the week for the week of March 13th!
Camila is a grade 8 student here at FRCS. She began figure skating when she was five years old, and has been competing individually at figure skating competitions ever since.
Camila is a member of The Ocean State Ice Theater (OSIT) NOVICE team. OSIT will be one of the four teams representing the USA in the 2023 7th Nations’ Cup competition. The competition will take place in April 20-23, 2023, and the Skating Club of Boston, in Norwood, will host it.
This prestigious international Theater on Ice (TOI) competition is held every other year and teams from all around the world participate in it. The U.S. teams are selected to participate by the U.S. Figure Skating Theatrical Skating Committee and the TOI competitions consists of two programs: the free skate and the choreographic exercise. Programs are evaluated on technical merit and presentation with emphasis on originality, costuming, artistry and musicality.
She has also been a member of the OSIT teams for the past 6 years. In 2022, Camila was part of the OSIT OPEN team and competed at the National Theater on Ice competition that was held in Kansas and the team earned a Pewter medal.
Camila is now part of the OSIT NOVICE team and it is the first time she will be competing at an international level. She is over the moon and honored of being part of the TEAM USA!
On March 31 the OSIT teams will be hosting a fundraiser at the New England Sports Village in Attleboro and all entrance fees proceedings will be used to sponsor the NOVICE team to represent Team USA this April in Norwood, MA, and both teams at the Nationals in Detroit, Michigan. All who are able to skate unassisted are welcome for an evening of fun!
Let's show some FALCON PRIDE for Camila, and wish her good luck in her upcoming competition!

Go Camila and Team USA!
