FRCS Announces 2026 Senior Awards, Recognitions and Scholarship Awardees

On Friday, May 22nd, Foxborough Regional Charter School (FRCS) hosted its annual Senior Awards and Scholarship Ceremony, recognizing the remarkable accomplishments of the Class of 2026. The event honored students who exemplify our school’s motto: “Enter to Learn, Exit to Lead”—individuals who have grown into leaders ready to make an impact beyond the classroom.

This year’s Scholarship and Honors Recognition Ceremony awarded 19 scholarships totaling $24,500, made possible through the generosity of the Foxborough Regional Charter School FoundationFRCS Family Empowerment Alliance (FEA), as well as dedicated community supporters who believe in the power of education and student potential.

These awards recognize not only academic excellence, but also leadership, service, and perseverance—core values at the heart of the FRCS experience.

As the Class of 2026 prepares for graduation this Friday, May 29th, their achievements reflect the spirit of FRCS and the strength of a community committed to nurturing future leaders.

The Trustees Scholarship of Excellence is awarded to the graduating senior with the highest grade point average. The scholarship is valued at $3,000 and is awarded to class valedictorian, Jay Bhatia.

 

The Principal’s Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has had the largest overall impact on the FRCS community. Applicants were asked to answer this essential question: 'What is the impact you have had on the FRCS community and how has it shaped who you are?' Valued at $1,000 each, the awardees are Mukilan Dayasankar and Emme Cadogan

 

The Future Scientist Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a career in the fields of healthcare, medicine, technology, or general science who has demonstrated such intent during their high school years. Applicants were asked this essential question: 'What work have you done while in high school to support your interest in these sciences, and why are you planning on pursuing such a field after high school?' Valued at $1,000, the awardee is Riya Elza Varghese

 

The Future Educators Scholarship is awarded to a senior intending to pursue a career in public education at any level, with a demonstrated record of working with youth. Applicants answered the essential question: 'Why do you want to go into the field of education?' Valued at $1,000, the awardee is Rachel Canuel

 

The Excellence in Athletics and Academics Scholarship honors a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding success both in the classroom and on the athletic field. Applicants answered this essential question: 'What does being a scholar-athlete mean to you, and how do you balance the responsibilities of academics with the commitment of athletics?' Valued at $1,000, the awardee is Jaden Stewart

 

The Arts and Humanities Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a degree in the Arts or Humanities who has showcased their creative successes and achievements throughout the academic year. Applicants answered this essential question: 'What medium of art are you most passionate about and how do you plan to pursue this in the future?' Valued at $1,000, the awardee is Izzy Mailhot

 

The Civic Leadership Scholarship is presented to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding leadership or service to the community in which they live. Applicants reflected on this essential question: 'What does civic leadership mean to you and how have you made an impact on your community?' Valued at $1,000, the awardee is Saanvi Kumar

 

The First Generation College Student Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who will be the very first in their family to attend a four-year public or private educational institution. Applicants answered this deeply meaningful essential question: 'What does it mean to you to be the first in your family to attend college, and where will you be attending?' Valued at $1,000, the awardee is Tyler Perryman

 

The Global Citizen Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated a true commitment to global improvement. Applicants answered this essential question: 'What does Global Citizenship mean to you and what efforts have you made to make this world a better place?' Valued at $1,000, the awardee is Hailey Knapp

 

The Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who best exemplifies the Core Shared Values of Foxborough Regional Charter School: transparent communication, integrity, respect, diversity and equity, teamwork, and growth. Applicants answered the essential question: 'How have you exemplified these values, both in and out of school, during your high school years?' Valued at $2,000, the awardee is Elizabeth Semenova

 

The FRCS Service Scholarship, awarded on behalf of FRCS Family Empowerment Alliance to a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding service to their greater community. Applicants answered this essential question: 'What does service mean to you and how have you made an impact on your community?' Valued at $1,000, the awardee is Claire Martin Neill

 

The FRCS Leadership Scholarship is awarded on behalf of FRCS Family Empowerment Alliance to a graduating senior who has demonstrated exceptional leadership across one or more activities. Applicants answered the essential question: 'What leadership roles have you held during high school? What has been the most significant and why?' Valued at $1,000 each, we have two recipients. The awardees are Jeremaiah McIntosh and Gabrielle Pierre Louis

 

The FRCS Falcon Award Scholarship is unique award is presented on behalf of FRCS Family Empowerment to a graduating senior who, regardless of GPA, has demonstrated profound personal growth, resilience, and effort throughout their high school years. Applicants answered the essential question: 'How have you grown as a student and a person over your four years of high school, and what obstacles have you overcome?' Valued at $1,000 each, our two awardees are Erika Janvier and Jahnaya Virgulus!

 

The Self-Starter Scholarship is awarded to a senior who has created an organization or initiated a project that will have a lasting impact, either on the community-at-large, or as a stand-alone business or organization.  This Scholarship is for the true innovator and big thinker who is not only able to  have a vision of a successful organization, but has initiated and carried out the necessary steps to see it through, and its success can be measured, observed, and impactful. Applicants were asked this essential Question:  What organization or project have you founded?  Please describe, including what inspired you to take on the endeavor, what achievements the development of your organization/project can boast, and who is served (and how) through your efforts? The scholarship is sponsored by Andrew Sciaba and is valued at $1,000. It is awarded to Juden Phillippe.

The Judy Weitzenkorn Literary Scholar Scholarship is dedicated to supporting students who have triumphed over reading challenges, embodying the resilience and determination that Judy Weitzenkorn instilled in her students during her tenure as a reading intensive teacher at FRCS from 1998 to 2012. With a profound passion for helping young children learn to read, Judy's legacy continues through this scholarship, which aims to empower aspiring students as they take their next steps toward college or trade school. This scholarship not only honors Judy's commitment to literacy but also encourages students to pursue their educational goals, ensuring that they have the resources and support needed to succeed in their future endeavors. Applicants were asked this essential question: How have you triumphed over your own challenges with reading, and how has that experience furthered your pursuit of your educational goals? The scholarship is sponsored by Mr. Jeffrey Weitzenkorn and is valued at $1,000. It is awarded to  Juden Phillippe and Erika Janvier.

The Rotary Scholarship, presented by Mr. Stephen Udden on behalf of the Foxboro Rotary Club. $1,000 scholarship presented to Zayne Serena.
