Assessment at FRCS
At FRCS, we are committed to helping every student grow and succeed from kindergarten through high school. To understand how students are learning and where they may need additional support, we use a variety of assessments throughout the school year. These assessments give teachers valuable information about each student's progress, helping them celebrate successes, identify areas for growth, and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs. In addition to the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS), FRCS uses the NWEA MAP Growth assessment in Grades 2–10, the I-Ready Mathematics test in Grades 5–8, and the Amplify mCLASS DIBELS reading assessment in Grades K–4. Together, these tools help us monitor student progress, strengthen classroom instruction, and ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
In addition, classroom teachers implement specific unit and skills-based assessments aligned with our standards-based curricula. Our educators also develop and implement teacher-created assessments to measure specific areas of learning and to gather information on areas students may need more support or further extension activities.
