Dear Grade 3 and 4 Families,
My name is Misha Grandel. I am the orchestra director at FRCS. Many of your children have expressed interest in becoming members of our orchestra program.
I strongly encourage parents to consider having their children learn to play a musical instrument. There are many benefits. While participating in the Orchestra program, children are learning the basics of playing together in a large group. They’re also learning team work, discipline and much more.
Orchestra meets three times a week after school. Participation at all band rehearsals is encouraged – but students are allowed to miss one practice a week for other after school commitments.
(Flutes, Oboes, Clarinets, Bassoons, Trumpets, Trombones, Euphoniums, French Horns, Percussion/Drums)

HS Orchestra Room
Beginners String Orchestra
(Violins, Violas, Cellos, String Bases, Bass Guitars)
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.
The ES music students are brought by the orchestra assistant to the HS music room and they are being dismissed at the end of the rehearsal to be picked up by their parents or are escorted back to the Elementary School for Extended Day. You can register for the Extended Day program HERE.
The FRCS orchestra program is free of charge. However, to be a member of the orchestra students must take private lessons on their chosen instrument. Attached is a list of local professional instrumental music teachers. Parents can contact the instrumental teachers directly to set up a convenient time for weekly private lessons. The price for private lessons are typically $30 per half hour on a weekly basis. If your child needs an instrument, FRCS has a rental program. Instruments can also be rented or purchased online or at local music stores.
Please reach out to me with any questions about the Orchestra program at FRCS.
