School and home partnerships and effective communication are key to student success!

Last month, we held our traditional Back to School Nights, events where parents can learn more about class, course, and grade-level expectations, curriculum, and assignments.  Formal K-12 individual parent-student-teacher conferences will be held later in Term 1.  Teachers will begin scheduling specific times to meet soon.

Yet, even though we schedule specific activities for parents to meet with teachers, such as the back to school open houses and the above-mentioned student progress meetings, these events should not be considered the only times you can or should interact with your child’s teacher or other staff.  Nor should the FRCS Community Portal substitute for actual communication.  For our students to be successful, we highly encourage positive and continuous interactions throughout our school.  When we work together, your children and our students are better prepared for success!

Similarly, we love to hear good news!  We sincerely welcome hearing how a teacher or staff member has made a difference for you, your child, or your family.  Please drop us a quick note, so we can let that person know how much they are appreciated!

Further, we strive to provide constant and timely information to our families.  In addition to our open houses, back to school nights, monthly Parent Cafes’, and numerous other events, we use a variety of methods, including mail, email, newsletters, portal, and social media, i.e. our newly designed website, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest to inform our school community of important news, initiatives, celebrations and recognitions, and upcoming activities.

The newly-designed website is more user-friendly, visually-appealing, and contains a wealth of information in a more streamlined, organized fashion.  We post our Teaching and Learning Strategic Plan, Grade-Level Syllabi, Student and Family Handbook, and a variety of other comprehensive documents and forms important to our K-12 school community.  Please take some time to browse the site and be sure to visit often, as we update it with news and highlights.
