Sun Screen
The sun is out and it is never too early to think
about sunscreen. After all field trips are going on and recess is occurring
especially on “sunny days. Finally
everyone will get a chance to spend more time outdoors.
Did you know? 
- Melanoma is the fastest increasing cancer
in Massachusetts
- 50% of melanomas appear on the back and
other hard to see areas
- Melanoma is one of the most preventable
cancers
- Melanoma is the most common form of cancer
in women ages 25 to 29
- There is a melanoma death in the US almost
every hour
To protect yourself and your family:
- Spend only limited time in the sun between
10 am and 4 pm
- Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an
SPF of 15 or higher
- Cover up with a hat, sunglasses and long
sleeve shirt when out in the sun
Also remember:
Tanning beds and tanning lamps are just as
dangerous as the sun itself
Proper use of sunscreen should be an application of
1 ounce or more of sunscreen applied all over the body – 20 minutes before
exposure to the sun and should be reapplied every two hours
