    Eligibility Requirements for Extracurricular Activities

Academic responsibilities are the student’s first priority and take precedence over any athletic or extracurricular activity. Students must maintain a minimum 70 percent average in all subjects in order to be eligible for athletics and extracurricular activities. If a student’s average drops below 70 percent in any subject he/she will be placed on academic probation. Such probation will make him/her ineligible for participation in any activity until he/she has satisfactorily met the requirements to participate.

There will be two times each term that grades will be reviewed, mid-term and end of term. These six-week intervals will determine a student’s participation or probation.

Participation in Extra-Curricular Activities after School Hours

Students must be in school for at least five periods (60%) of the school day to participate in any extracurricular activities, including school dances. A student who is absent from school may not participate in any extra-curricular activities. This can be waived only by the student receiving administrative approval in advance of the absence.

Students who are suspended, whether in-school or out-of-school suspension, may not participate in any activities on that day. A continual violator of the Code of Conduct will be subject to suspension and/or removal from the extracurricular activity(ies). Detention and teacher detention take priority before students are allowed to participate in extracurricular activities.
