How to Apply
Charter school enrollment is gained through a lottery process. The school conducts two lotteries each school year, one in February and one in July. In order to apply for a lottery, a parent or guardian must submit an application by the scheduled deadline. Applications and deadlines are posted on our website and applications must be submitted in person to the school or sent Certified Mail, return receipt requested, through the United States Post Office. An application will be considered received when a receipt from the Post Office or the school is received by the parent.
Applications for Kindergarten through Grade twelve may be submitted year-round.
The Lottery
All applicants will be assigned an identification number that will be used for confidentiality purposes. Identification numbers are sorted and selected by grade during the lottery. If there are no positions available in the appropriate grade, students will be added to the waitlist in the order established by the selection of the identification numbers. Siblings of attending students will be selected and added to the waitlist first. Any out-of-district applicants will be selected separately after students who reside in one of our sending districts.
There are 96 positions in kindergarten. Preference for enrollment is provided to siblings of attending students. Sibling status refers to children who reside in the same household and share a parent or guardian. After siblings are enrolled, the remaining kindergarten positions will be offered in the order established at the lottery.
Age Requirements
Please note children must be five years of age by August 31st of the year of enrollment in order to be eligible for the kindergarten lottery. Children must also be six years of age by August 31st of the year of enrollment in order to be eligible for the first grade.
Application Deadlines
Applications for the February lottery must be submitted by the last business day in January. Applications for the July lottery must be submitted by the last business day in June.
Entry Requirements
While the school does not administer examinations for entrance, students are assessed after enrollment as a diagnostic tool to benefit teachers and prepare them to help new students access the curriculum.
The Wait List
If there is an available opening in the appropriate grade and no corresponding waiting list, students will be offered a position in accordance with the principal enrollment process. If there is no available opening the application will be submitted and processed through into the next upcoming lottery.
Positions will be offered in order of the waitlist when openings become available. The school will offer any open positions through February of each school year. The waitlist for each grade advances each year for students to be considered for the next grade level. Students will remain on the waitlist until they are offered a position. There is no need to re-apply after a student has been added to a waitlist unless a change in status has occurred.
Tour the School
Public Building Tours are conducted the first Friday of each month at 9 a.m. for interested families and community members. Please contact the school at 508.543.2508 if you would like to R.S.V.P. for a tour.
