Enrollment Policy
Foxborough Regional Charter School, hereafter referred to as “the School” is open to all students on a space availability basis and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, creed, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, age, ancestry, athletic performance, special need, proficiency in English language or a foreign language, or prior academic achievement. Admission is based solely on the application and enrollment process described herein.
Enrollment Criteria
- Enrollment in Foxborough Regional Charter School is limited to K through 12.
- Enrollment is open to children of the Commonwealth with priority given to the children that reside in the twenty one(21) cities and towns that comprise the Foxborough Regional Charter School. Proof of residency shall include any one of the following: a valid driver’s license or a voter registration card and a current utility bill or rent receipt.
- Kindergarten - Children must be five years of age by August 31 st of the year of enrollment in order to be eligible for the kindergarten lottery.
- First Grade - Children must be six years of age by August 31 st of the year of enrollment in order to be eligible for the first grade.
- Preference shall be given to siblings of students attending Foxborough Regional Charter School. Per the Department of Education, the word "sibling" refers to persons who have a common parent, either biologically or legally through adoption. Whether the children reside in the same household has no bearing on determining if the children are siblings for purposes of a sibling preference. Children who live in different households may be siblings and children who live in the same household are not necessarily siblings.
- Enrollment shall not exceed the district charter tuition cap or the total number of students for which the district was noticed by the Department of Education.
- Enrollment may be limited by statutory mandates on such matters as, but not limited to, tuition payments, the number of students attending charter schools and the number of students attending from each city or town.
- Enrollment is subject to satisfying all the relevant requirements contained in this policy, final notice of acceptance by the School and satisfaction of all the criteria contained therein.
- Enrollment may follow informational meetings and interviews that are not designed, intended or used to discriminate.
- Relevant state laws and regulations will supersede these enrollment criteria if there is a conflict.
- While the School does not administer examinations for entrance, students are assessed after enrollment to determine appropriate grade placement.
- By March 1 of each year the board, in concert with the school administration, will decide the grade levels and class sizes for the upcoming year with the exception of kindergarten which shall be determined prior to the kindergarten lottery.
