Kindergarten Applications for admission
Applications for kindergarten students must be submitted between December 1 and January 31 of the school year prior to entry. Kindergarten applications are included in the Annual February Lottery.
Kindergarten Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2008-2009 school year.

Grade 1-12 Applications for admission
Students entering grades one and above can submit applications throughout the year. Applications submitted between February 1 and the last business day in June will be included in the July Lottery. Applications submitted between July 1 and the last business day in January will be included in the February Lottery.
*Only complete applications will be accepted. An application will be considered accepted/received if the parent/guardian has one of the following: (1) return receipt from the post office acknowledging receipt of the application by the school, or(2) signed receipt from the school acknowledging receipt of the application by the school.

If there is an available opening and the enrollment criteria is satisfied as well as no waiting list, the child will be offered a position in accordance with the principal enrollment process as outlined in Section III.

If there is no available opening, the child will, in accordance with policies contained herein, be added to the waiting list as outlined herein.

Applications for next year’s kindergarten

Applications for next year’s kindergarten (sibling and non-sibling) will be accepted between December 1 st and the last business day in month of January for the school year starting the following September (i.e., January 30, 2004 for September 2004). Said period shall be no less than 30 days.

If there are more eligible applicants than available spaces, acceptances will be determined by a lottery as outlined herein.

Applications received after the January 30 th deadline will be handled under the procedures outlined in Section IV.

At all times, siblings of attending students will be offered positions before children without attending siblings.

A separate application must be submitted for each eligible child. Children who are applying for next year’s kindergarten must submit an application as detailed in II.B above.

An application shall be considered to be received by the School (i.e., a valid application) only if the parent/guardian has one of the following:

Return receipt from the post office acknowledging receipt of the application by School.

Signed receipt from the School office acknowledging receipt of the application by the School that is signed, dated and time-stamped by the Director or his designee.

If the number of applicants remaining after granting preference to siblings of Currently enrolled students is greater than the number of spaces available, the School shall conduct a single lottery to determine which applicants shall be admitted.
Acceptance Process

Registration packets must be completed and received by the School within five business days of the notification date, except for the kindergarten lottery that is outlined in Section V.G.2 (Acceptance Process).

A child who has been offered admission is officially enrolled when the School office has accepted the child’s completed registration form, all relevant criteria has been satisfied and the parent or guardian receives formal notice from the Foxborough Regional Charter School and the student begins attending classes.

During the school year - If a parent/guardian declines an offer of admission during the school year, the child will maintain his/her current position on the waiting list. The school reserves the right to offer the opening to the next child on the waiting list.

Prior to the school year - If a parent/guardian declines an offer of admission prior to the school year, the child will be removed from the waiting list.

Failure to return registration packet shall constitute declination of acceptance offer.

Children shall be placed in the School as openings become available. Openings for the current school year may be declared until February 15 th of each school year (e.g., 2/15/04 is the last day vacancies may be declared for the 2003-2004 school year).

Applications received after the lottery deadline for applications shall be subject to another lottery at any grade level. As spaces become available during the school year, the School, depending on circumstances, may repeat the lottery/enrollment process to fill any openings. The process will be fair and open with public notice given at least one week prior to the lottery. No student entering an enrollment process may be admitted ahead of other eligible students who were previously placed on a waiting list during enrollment process except in cases described in I.G and IV.B.

If the registration packet is not satisfactorily completed, the School may rescind offer of acceptance.
Waiting List

Students not selected in an enrollment lottery shall be placed on a waiting list in the order that the numbers were drawn. Students on the waiting list may be enrolled as space becomes available.

In cases where enrollment of a student from the waiting list would exceed the School’s tuition cap or total number of students for which the district was notified, the student may be skipped over but kept on the waiting list.

After the initial application and enrollment process, lotteries shall be conducted on an as need basis as determined by the School and conducted in conformance with all relevant statutes and regulations.

Children shall be selected in order of their placement on the waiting list with siblings of children currently attending receiving preference.

As spaces become available, parent or guardian will be notified of the opening by phone, personal contact, or mail.

Registration packets must be completed and returned to the School within five (5) business days of notification. Failure to complete and return registration packets shall be considered a declination of acceptance.

Acceptance and enrollment is subject to satisfying all the relevant requirements contained in this policy, final notice of acceptance by the School and satisfaction of all the criteria contained therein.

When accepting children from the waiting list, the process shall start at the kindergarten level and move successively to higher grades.

A child will remain on the waiting list from year to year until one of the following occurs:

The child is admitted to the School.
-
The parent/guardian withdraws the child from consideration.

In accordance with the acceptance conditions as outlined in Section III.G.

If a family moves into or out of one of the 21 towns, the priority status will rest with those residing in the designated communities.

For other legal and sufficient reasons deemed necessary by the School.

Failure to respond to periodic requests by the School regarding wait list status. Notices to parents will be via first class mail and will detail the process necessary to remain on the waiting list.
